Dua for Maghfirat (Forgiveness) or Bakhshish
Seeking forgiveness (Maghfirat) from Allah is one of the most important aspects of a Muslim’s life. We all commit sins, knowingly or unknowingly, and it is through sincere repentance and supplication (Dua) that we seek Allah’s mercy and pardon.
One of the most powerful Duas for forgiveness is:
اللهم انك عفوو كريم تحب العفو فاعف عني
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun kareemun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni
Translation: O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, You love to forgive, so forgive me.
Another commonly recited Dua for Maghfirat:
ربنا ظلمنا انفسنا وان لم تغفر لنا وترحمنا لنكونن من الخاسرين
Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa illam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal khasireen.
Translation: Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers. (Surah Al-A’raf 7:23)
Dua for Entering the Toilet
Before entering the toilet, it is a Sunnah to recite this Dua to seek protection from evil and impurities:
اللهم اني اعوذ بك من الخبث والخبائث
Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal khubthi wal khabaa’ith
Translation: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils.
Dua for Leaving the Toilet
After using the toilet and stepping out, it is recommended to recite:
غفرانك
Ghufranaka
Translation: I seek Your forgiveness, O Allah.
This short yet powerful supplication reminds us to always seek Allah’s mercy and purification, both physically and spiritually.
Dua to Read in the Morning
Starting the day with a beautiful and meaningful Dua brings blessings and protection from harm throughout the day.
One of the best morning Duas is:
اصبحنا واصبح الملك لله والحمد لله لا اله الا الله وحده لا شريك له له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير
Asbahna wa asbahal mulku lillahi walhamdu lillah la ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu lahul mulku walahul hamdu wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer.
Translation: We have entered the morning and so has the entire kingdom of Allah. All praise is due to Allah. There is no deity but Allah alone, without any partner. To Him belongs the dominion and all praise, and He is over all things capable.
Dua to Read Before Sleeping
Before going to sleep, it is essential to remember Allah and seek His protection. One of the best Duas to read before sleeping is:
بسمك اللهم اموت واحيا
Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya
Translation: In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.
Another important Sunnah before sleeping is reciting Ayat-ul-Kursi:
الله لا اله الا هو الحي القيوم.... (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255)
Reciting Ayat-ul-Kursi before sleeping ensures Allah’s protection throughout the night.
Final Words
Dua is a powerful tool that connects us to Allah, providing peace, protection, and mercy. By incorporating these supplications into daily life, we can strengthen our faith and receive countless blessings. May Allah accept our prayers and grant us His mercy. Ameen!
